HarmLESS Psychotherapy offers one to one face to face and phone psychotherapeutic sessions for people who self harm. We work with people who use self-harm as a way of coping with life.
The range of psychological difficulties that people experience is varied. Some people attract a psychiatric diagnosis such as Personality Disorder, PSTD, Depression or Anxiety.
The aim of our intervention is to help people to gain control over their self harming behaviour. Using a harm reduction approach we support the person to explore what self harm means to them. This is important in order to identify the factors that sustain this behaviour.
Once those factors have been identified, we will use Solution Focused Therapy to asist the person in finding alternative coping mechanisms and develop new problem solving skills. My work is underpinned by a stong Humanist Approach and I believe in working with the person as a whole, therefore I encourage a holistic approach to mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health and wellbeing.
I work in accordance with COSCA and BPS Code of Practice, including Data Protection and Confidentiality.
There is a small amount of reduced rates appointments for students and people experiencing financial hardship, see details below.
